Artist Information
The Saltburn Arts Fair is open to all artists whether you’d just like to apply for a conventional stall or present a live, sound, light, time-based or any other type of work then we’d love to hear from you.
We have a limited number of slots for works to exhibited, performed or screened in the Saltburn Community Theatre throughout the afternoon of Saturday 4th and all day Sunday 5th.
As well as the stalls available during Sunday 5th for conventional use, we are open to facilitating artists who wish to perform other types of exhibits during the stall based fair.

The Weekend’s Programme
FRIDAY 3rd AUGUST
The Saltburn Arts Fair programme will open on the evening of Friday 3rd August with a fantastic launch event to be held at the new arts centre Saltburn Arts Theatre . Featuring a compelling line-up of musicians and artists this will bring all of the artists and community together to celebrate the opening of Saltburn’s first Arts Fair. SATURDAY 4th AUGUST
- Morning: mima Symposium ‘People and Society’ (programme to be announced)
- Afternoon: Live Art works and performance pieces from accepted artists
- Evening: Drinks and networking
SUNDAY 5th AUGUST
- 10.00 – 17.00: Art Fair in the centre of Saltburn
Important Additional Information
SELECTION PROCESS
- Artists will be selected via an independent panel of artists based and representatives from mima and the local authority, according to selection criteria defined by the event organizers
- Your proposal, images of your work and website will form a central part of the selection process.
- Artists will not be expected to be present at the selection panel.
- We aim to promote a range of artists. However, as it is our pilot year of hosting the Arts Fair, we will not be able to accommodate every artist. One of our priorities is to identifying key artists and businesses that can help lay the foundation for a sustainable and larger Arts Fair in the future.

THE PACKAGE
There is a flat fee of £50 for all successful artist regardless of type, duration or programme slot allocated. This fee is payable on confirmation of your place in the fair. The fee includes the following:
- Requested slot in the programme
- Inclusion in the Saltburn Arts Fair Brochure
- Inclusion on the Saltburn Arts Fair Website’s Artists Directory
- Free entry to Saturday programme: the mima symposium, performances & networking event
NB entry to the launch event is not included, separate tickets will need to be purchased.
THE STALLS
Artists participating in the Arts Fair itself will be provided with a covered stall. The dimensions of the stall are approximately 1m x 3m (this will be confirmed nearer the time). It will not be possible to provide access to power or services.
SETUP & STRIKE
- The Arts Fair will be open for set up at 06.30 on Sunday 5th August
- Spaces will be allocated and cannot be moved
- Cars must be removed after works are delivered to maintain access
- Stewards will be on hand throughout the day to advise artists
- Cars will be allowed access again from 17.00 to strike the event
For Artists presenting works within the Community Theatre individual get-in and strike times will be allocated. A technical member of staff will be on site to assist, however, artists must be self-sufficient in terms of installing their work.
PARKING
Artists will need to find suitable parking in the local area the Arts Fair team are working with the local authority to ensure that space is available,
EVENT MANAGEMENT
The host organisation for the Saltburn Arts Fair is Profile Gallery. The Sitting Room wil be acting as the event management hub for the duration of the weekend’s events including:
- Information
- First Aid & Health and Safety
- Tickets for events
Naturally coffee, tea and cake will also be available.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Stewards will be on site for the duration of the Arts Fair on Sunday 5 August. It is a requirement of all exhibiting artists that they have adequate public liability insurance. First aid will be on site for the duration of the event. Artists are also advised to ensure that all valuables are insured.
The Arts Fair team cannot be held liable for any thefts or breakages. Every precaution will be taken to ensure safety during the event however, it is every participant responsibility to ensure that they conduct themselves in a safe and
appropriate manner.
